Leading Chinese semiconductor firms are expected to face limited impact from proposed US tariffs, according to analysts, reports Hong Kong's South China Morning Post.
China's top chipmakers, including Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC) and Hua Hong Semiconductor, are likely to avoid major fallout from US President Donald Trump's proposed 100 per cent tariffs on imported semiconductors.
A research note from CLSA said the impact on the Shanghai-based firms would be small, and they may benefit from countermeasures by China and other nations.
SMIC's shares rose nearly one per cent to HK$53 (US$6.75), while Hua Hong gained 2.52 per cent to HK$44.78.
